The Girl Scout program is an informal, educational, value-based organization.
Through this program, girls ages five through 17, (Kindergarten through 12th
grade) develop self-worth, learn new skills, explore a wide range of
opportunities, and make lasting friendships while having fun! Troops meet
weekly, biweekly or monthly. Girl Scout leaders are trained adult
volunteers, usually parents, who help girls derive the many benefits from Girl
Scouting.
The Girl Scout program provides girls
with a myriad of enriching experiences, such as extraordinary field trips,
sports skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges
and nature study. In fact, the variety of experiences offered through the
Girl Scout program reaches further than any other extra-curricular program a
girl could join. Best of all, girls do all these things with their friends
and make many new ones as a Girl Scout.
In addition to these activities, the
girls have fun camping, swimming, horseback riding, archery and taking annual
trips supported through their annual cookie sale. Girls can explore these
topics and more in the "Just for Girls" new website,
www.gogirlsonly.org
