Along with the clergy, lectors are entrusted with the crucial task of making the word of God come alive.  They read from the Old and New Testament during the celebration of the Mass and on other special occasions during the year.  By proclaiming God’s message to the congregation, they serve as instruments of His grace.  Each of the current twenty-five lectors is scheduled to read about once every six weeks at the Mass they prefer.  More lectors are always needed.
