St. Francis de Sales School has been in existence since 1895. At the request of Reverend Edward O'Reilly, first Pastor of St. Francis, three sisters from Our Lady of Angels Convent, Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, came to teach the children. The schoolroom was situated in the basement of the Church. The Sisters arrived each day by horse and buggy, and traveled by sleigh when snow covered the hilly roads. For a short time, classes were moved to the Motherhouse; in 1915, they returned to the basement of the Church. In 1925, a school was erected for the ever-increasing enrollment. The school was renovated in 1977 after the interior was completely destroyed by fire in January. It was rededicated by Bishop Hughes on January 29, 1978. The kindergarten room, then located in the church basement, was dedicated September 1984, facilitating a comprehensive K-8 education. A computer lab and library were built and utilized in 1994. We are proud to say that quality Catholic education lives on in St. Francis de Sales Parish School.
